Easy Chai Tea Latte
December is by far the most exciting month to eat, drink, and be merry! There are so many delicious recipes to try! On that note, where are my tea and latte lovers!? I have a super easy recipe to make your holidays more cheerful! If you love chai tea this one is for you! Who knew how easy and simple it would be to make a delicious cup of Chai Tea Latte!
Can you believe that I just recently tried Chai tea and now it’s one of my favorites! Chai tea is filled with some of my favorite spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves! This combination makes a perfect holiday drink especially when it is paired with honey, coconut flakes, and more cinnamon! This is a great alternative to coffee too.
What I love about this recipe is that you can use any type of milk. Whole milk, almond milk, low-fat milk, skim milk any type of milk works great with chai tea.
Easy Chai Tea Latte
Servings: 1 Prep Time: 3 mins Cook Time: 8 mins
INGREDIENTS
For the tea:
1 cup filtered water
1 chai tea bag (I used TAZO- organic chai)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/2 cup milk
cinnamon optional for topping
For glass rim:
3 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup coconut flakes
INSTRUCTIONS
-
In a small pot, bring water to a boil and steep tea bag for 5 minutes. Remove and discard tea bag. Stir in sugar.
-
While your tea steeps, place your coconut flakes in a thin layer on top of a shallow plate. Brush the top mug rim with honey. Turn the mug over and dip the sticky rims in the coconut mixture; bits of coconut will cling to the rim of the glass for a pretty presentation.
-
Place milk into a small pot and heat over medium heat until milk begins to steam (do not bring to a boil) whisk vigorously until foamy or use a handheld milk frother to froth milk.
-
Add the desired amount of ice into the mug and pour in the tea. After the tea, pour milk into the tea concentrate and foam, sprinkle with cinnamon if desired, and enjoy!
