Make your bat cutout. You want to start by drawing your bat shape on a piece of parchment paper, if you have a big enough cookie cutter that works as well! I didn't have a bat cookie cutter so I simply drew a bat shape on a piece of parchment paper, cut it out, and used it as a stencil.
Trace bat onto pie crust. Roll out the pie crust and trace over bat template onto it. You’ll need two cutouts per bat.
Bat eyes. With a baking piping tip, cut out eyes. You can hand cut them as well using a knife.
Add filling. Add filling to pie crusts. A little goes a long way. Lightly pat water around the edges with your finger and place crust with eye cutouts on top of the filling. Pat the edges of the pie together.
Seal the edges. With a fork, lightly press around the edges of the bat, this will seal the edges.
Egg wash. Transfer the pies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Then brush the top of the pies with egg wash.
Bake. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes, until golden brown. Eat warm or cool down before serving.
