DIY Pedestal Bowl

The kids are done with school and it’s officially summer vacation here! We’ve been doing some major home updates especially with the backyard my goal is to have it done by the end of July. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a “real” backyard and we are ready for some summer barbecuing and entertaining. Also, I’ve been updating some furniture pieces, painting walls, cleaning and doing some DIYs. Which I’m excited to share once everything is done.

This week I tackled a summer DIY and love how this DIY pedestal bowl turned out. I’ve had my eye on a Pottery Barn pedestal bowl but, I couldn’t get myself to spend $100 dollars for it, so instead, I made my own. You can make this with dollar store bowls and thrift stores are also a great option to save even more on the cost of materials for this project. I wanted to up my game and create a large and solid pedestal bowl, so I ended up going to Walmart and buying large ceramic and glass serving bowls! These serving bowls gave me the height, weight, and size I was looking for. I then used texture spray paint for the first time, and I really liked it! It gave it the grainy texture I was looking for.

I am so happy with how it turned out—all for less than $25!

Here’s how to make your own:

SUPPLIES:

Large Seving Bowls
Small Glass Bowls
Rust-Oleum Primer Spray Paint
Rust-Oleum Texture Spray Paint – Desert Bisque
E6000 Adhesive

STEPS:

  1. Remove stickers on the bottom of bowls.
  2. Turn the small bowl upside down, and glue the bottom of bowl to the bottom of the large serving bowl. Let the glue set overnight.
  3. Spray paint with primer, let set.
  4. Spray paint with Texture spray paint, let set and that’s it!

I am so excited to finally have one of these modern pedestal bowls! Make sure you follow me on Instagram, I will be adding a video on this diy.
